The program promotes relief from osteoarthritis symptoms by focusing on exercises that strengthen the muscles around your hip and knee joints. By building strength in these areas, we can help to relieve pain and improve your mobility. The program also includes evidence-backed, practical information to help you manage your symptoms in daily life.
No, you’re able to join the program directly through us! When you book an appointment with us, we will assess your condition and identify whether the program would be right for you.
The program starts with two education sessions, and then two sessions of supervised exercise per week over the next six weeks.
The GLA:D® program has been shown to reduce the need for surgery in many patients, or at least to delay it, but it is possible that you may still require surgery at some point. We will also advise you with honesty and care, putting your wellbeing at the forefront of all we do
Many people continue with activities like walking or light exercise while they participate in the GLA:D® program. As part of your treatment, we will guide you on how to manage your physical activity with what you’re doing in the program to ensure you aren’t putting too much stress on your body, helping you modify your physical routine to keep everything in balance.
