Athletic testing can be a useful tool for anyone looking to improve their body strength, from high-performance athletes through to recreational athletes and anyone eager to improve their physical competency. We tailor our testing protocols to people of all ages and activity levels, with the results used as a baseline to help you improve. Your physiotherapist will determine what specific tests will be undertaken based on your discussed goals and whether there are any injury concerns to consider.
We recommend 1-hour sessions to ensure thorough assessment. Following this, you will receive a detailed summary presenting the data to you and highlighting any potential area/s for improvement. Such reporting can include comparing left to right limbs in the case of an injury for any asymmetries, as well as comparing results to normative data or any of your previous results to determine progress.
It depends on your goals, but regularly tracking is important to ensure you are progressing well. You may be recommended for retesting over a 6-8 week period; however, your physiotherapist can discuss with you their individualised recommendation based on your individual circumstances, any injuries, your activity levels, and personal goals.
Absolutely! After we establish some baseline measurements of your strength, we work with you to build an appropriate plan that will help you improve, and then use regular re-testing to chart your progress. Our physiotherapy team is experienced across all things movement, and is committed to helping you thrive.
Because testing involves some movement and activity, we recommend wearing comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely and without restrictions, like activewear. This ensures you can follow any movement directions from the physiotherapist. Comfortable footwear like runners are also a good choice.
