FAQs

Manual therapy involves hands-on techniques to treat pain and mobility issues. These techniques include soft tissue massage on tense muscle areas, targeted stretching to ease stiffness, and joint mobilisations to improve your range of motion. Overall, manual therapy techniques are designed to address the specific sources of pain or discomfort in your body.

We do our best to make your treatment as comfortable as possible, but it is possible that some techniques will cause some discomfort. Our priority is always your health and wellbeing, so we tailor our techniques to match your pain tolerance, and always explain what we will do beforehand so you can be prepared.

Manual therapy might provide a lot of relief, but we do commonly use it alongside some of our other treatments, like exercise programs, pilates and education. If there’s something we can do that will help you achieve long-term outcomes, we do it.

In many cases, patients will begin to feel some improvement after their first session! However, if you have a more severe or longer-term issue, you may need more than one session to experience more consistent relief. After assessing your individual needs, we will personalise a treatment plan and communicate during the first session with you how many sessions we expect you will need, and keep you regularly informed throughout your treatment.

Manual therapy refers to any type of hands-on therapy, targeting specific joints, muscles and soft tissues to relieve pain, improve mobility, and support recovery from injury. Massage is a particular type of manual therapy, and often forms part of our manual therapy treatment plans.
