Exercise Therapy
What is exercise therapy?
Exercise therapy is a guided program of physical activity that aims to rehabilitate injuries and conditions, while also building strength to minimise the risk of future injury. Exercise is used as the form of therapy to help rehabilitate an injury and specifically address the issues within your body. Our treatment is designed to help restore balance, improve range of motion deficits, and increase confidence in your ability to move.
Who is exercise therapy for?
Exercise therapy can be a helpful option for anyone, whether they are recovering from an injury, managing recurring pain, or looking to improve their range of motion. We treat patients of all ages, specifically those who are:
- Recovering from a musculoskeletal injury
- Looking to prevent future injuries
- Managing an ongoing condition or recurrent pain
- Returning to sport

We tailor a strategic exercise plan based on your condition and what will be best for your recovery. Our programs often include strength training, balance work, mobility and functional movement drills, and targeted stretching. Any exercise we suggest to you will be clearly explained, and we will give you detailed instructions to perform them safely and effectively.
We do our best to make your treatment as comfortable as possible, but it is possible that some techniques will cause some discomfort. Our priority is always your health and wellbeing, so we tailor our techniques to match your pain tolerance, and always explain what we will do beforehand so you can be prepared.
Absolutely! As part of your program, we give you all the information you need to perform the exercises safely at home, and give you access to a mobile app with detailed videos showing how to perform your exercises. For patients who prefer, we can also provide handwritten exercise sheets.
Exercise therapy is all about using evidence-backed, targeted movements to help your body function and heal from injuries. Every exercise is chosen for a specific reason. While a general gym workout is not totally dissimilar, our programs are supervised and designed to strengthen problem areas.
Not at all. We tailor all of our programs to meet your current ability, and provide gradual updates as your body allows. We’re here to help you heal and feel better, not push you beyond your limits.
Definitely! Exercise therapy can be highly beneficial at all ages, from younger patients through to older adults, helping to improve mobility, strength, balance and joint function. Our exercise programs are tailored to each individual; we take into account your age, physical ability and pre-existing health conditions to ensure everything you do is safe and contributing positively to your health and wellbeing.
